Scan Suspicious Files with 23 Different Antivirus – Keep your PC protected

a man is suspicious about something Often we come across some files, which is reported as a threat by our antivirus, and the scenario becomes weird when we are somehow sure enough that particular file is not a virus, so, here is a solution for such cases, NoVirusThanks is the answer.

NoVirusThanks is a service which lets you scan the suspicious files with 23 different antivirus engines, it’s an online service doesn’t require any installation to use it, all you need to do is upload the file to get it scanned, as soon as done with upload, your request is placed in a queue, and as the queue processing reaches to your request, file is scanned and the result is send to you via a webpage, you can save this webpage URL for your future references as well. Antivirus engines are updated every 6 hours.

However there are two methods to upload your files for scan, one is directly from the NoVirusThanks website, and second is via the desktop agent, which is a small program, it allows you to upload files with one click, and this makes the whole process convenient enough, the constraint with desktop agent is, it allows you to upload files up to 4 Mb only, whereas the web interface allows files up to 20 Mb.

  • Avira AntiVir
  • Avast
  • AVG Virus
  • BitDefender
  • ClamAV Eicar
  • Comodo
  • Dr.Web
  • Ewido
  • F-PROT 6
  • G DATA

  • McAfee
  • NOD32 v3
  • Norman
  • Panda
  • Quick Heal
  • Solo Antivirus
  • Sophos
  • TrendMicro
  • VBA32
  • VirusBuster

I couldn’t get an infected file, to test and see the functionality and if any options, like if providing a cleaned copy of file or something of that sort is available or not, however testing the EICAR file gives the result as provided on the site as sample.

This service reminds me of CloudAV, difference is, in case of CloudAV, the scanning will be faster, because of the Cloud Computing concept, and because of the high scalability factor, the queuing will not be required, we can look at NoVirusThanks as CloudAV, without Cloud, lol.

Whole idea seems to be pretty neat, and appealing as well, give it a try when next time you are struck with the results of your Antivirus.

Bianca Emling : Strange that the small business owner's time so rarely features in these types of articles. That is the biggest improvement in my IT investment in cloud app's by far.

Antionette Trull : Amazon Cloud Drive is just a front end for Amazon S3. I've been using S3 for a long time. It's true that S3 doesn't understand folders, but it's easy to simulate them and preserve the organization of your data. I use s3sync to do it. No dealbreaker.
