USB Virus Protection – Stop USB Pen Drives from Automatically Launching Viruses
USB drives have become a big problem in offices,colleges,hostels. Plug it in and In case your antivirus fails to detect a malicious file or virus in the USB then, the USB drive can be made to automatically start a program the moment it is plugged in. And this is exactly where USB Firewall come into the picture.
USB Firewall alerts a user when a USB peripheral tries to auto start a potentially malicious file. You can then delete the file with the delete button. NR : Hello, I read\with interest your article about USB firewall. Can you answer a question for me please? You said "A must have tool if you don’t have an antivirus." does this mean that if an antivirus is installed, Iwould not need to usw the utility? And, what would be your suggestion for a USB firewall mobile solution. Seems that one would not want it on the same stick as the content. Thanks for your interest. NR Washington DC
Debajyoti Das : @ NR - Yes, you don't need this if you have a good antivirus (updated regularly). They would Stop USB Pen Drives from Automatically Launching Viruses themselves. If your mobile uses a Operating System then only use the firewall.
Max : If your HDD is mounted it can be infected by usb virus. So we need to check usb WITHOUT mounting hdd! By disabling autorun you will pospone virus start till you click on usb icon by youself.
maxrexfax : If your HDD is mounted it can be infected by virus unknown to your anti virus. So we need to check USB WITHOUT mounting HDD! By disabling autorun you will postpone virus start till you click on USB icon.
