open docx xlsx files Microsoft introduced the .docx, .xlsx file format in its new Office and Word applications and wants it to replace the commonly used doc, xls format. The problem with the change from doc, xls to docx is that many users are still working with prior versions of Word or no Microsoft product at all and face the problem that they can’t load the docx file because it is not supported in their application.

The main question for those users is of course how they would open a docx file to be able to read and work with it.

One way to get around the problem is by converting the .docx, .xlsx spreadsheet to the traditional .docx, .xlsx format using the Microsoft Office compatibility Pack. The File Format Converters will help you to open, edit, and save .docx, .xlsx files in Office 2000, Office XP, or even Office 2003.

To install this download:

  1. Ensure your system is up to date by installing all High-Priority/Required updates on Microsoft Update (required for Microsoft Office XP and 2003 users).
  2. After installing all High-Priority/Required updates with Microsoft Update, download the Compatibility Pack by clicking the Download button above and saving the file to your hard disk.
