Forward Incoming Yahoo Mail ID, Get Incoming Email in Gmail Inbox
Written by Debajyoti Das
Recently, a reader Alex Martin asked "hi.i hav an account on yahoo.i wanna make a new on gmail.tel me is it possible to get all mails of yahoo on gmail and how ?". Of Course Its Possible..but the main problem was mail forwarding feature was not available to free yahoo accounts. But here is a work around to forward your incoming yahoo mail to your Gmail account.
Note : This post is applicable only if you have a Yahoo Mail Plus Account…
Email Forwarding on Yahoo Mail Plus – Settings
- First, click "Options" in the upper-right corner of your inbox page and select "More Options".
- Under "Management", select "POP & Forwarding".
-
On the POP & Forwarding page, click make the Forward your Yahoo! Mail option selected.

-
Enter the email address to which you want to forward your Yahoo! Mail.

- Click Save Changes.
- You have to verify that email account first to receive the forwarded emails.
Using POP to Import Yahoo emails into Gmail Inbox Automatically
Note: You can’t Forward and POP your mail at the same time.
- Click Settings at the top of any Gmail page, and open the Accounts and Import tab. (For Google Apps domains, open the Accounts tab.)
- In the Check mail using POP3 section, click Add POP3 email account.
- Enter the full email address of the account you’d like to access, then click Next Step.
- Gmail will populate sample settings, but we recommend checking with your other provider to learn the correct server name and port.

- Enter your Password and Click Add Account.
- Once your account has been added successfully, you’ll have the option of setting it as a custom From address. This allows you to compose messages in Gmail, but have them appear to be sent from your other email account. Click Yes to set up a custom From address.
Transferring your Contacts from Yahoo to Gmail
- Open your Gmail account. Go to Settings.
- Click on the "Accounts and Import" Tab. Enter the passwords for your Yahoo! mail account.
- Select the import options you want to use. You can decide to import all your contacts, and old mail, or some portion of thereof.

AS : How to keep the yahoo's copy of email intact after auto-forwarding?
Debajyoti Das : @ AS - There is option to delete the mail or not or only forward a copy to your gmail
AS : OK, I need to check it. Long time ago when I last open yahoo mail, no such option was there.
shrinivas : good work dude !!!!!! it works ..................THANX
Rahul : There is NO FORWARDING OR POP option !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Debajyoti Das : @ Rahul - It won't be there for Free Yahoo Users. But See the Post about changing your Yahoo to Yahoo Asia
AS : No option to save mails in yahoo still in my yahoo India account.
Debajyoti Das : @ AS - You need to configure to make it Yahoo Asia... See the Post
Tina : No option to change member information to "ASIA". Kindly check.
Debajyoti Das : @ tina .. I tried myself .. It works... Plz Kindly check
Achal Dave : I.. LOVE.. YOU for this! You don't know HOW MANY HOURS I HAVE SPENT trying to get yahoo to work with my outlook and other things. I know I should have paid the $10 but I was mad at yahoo for doing that, and was determined not to pay it to them. Thanks so much. Even my dad has been wanting to use this feature... THANKS.
Monitor_R : It seems that the solution with Yahoo Asia is not working any more for new accounts. I started a new email account on Yahoo US, moved it to Yahoo Asia as described (different web look compared to the post) and POP&Forwarding option is not appearing... Any ideas?
Chandru : My account is 5 years old.. but still i cant find pop and mail forward option after changing preferred content to Yahoo India.. any suggestions
Debajyoti Das : @ Chandru - You have to set the Preferred domain to yahoo asia .. to work. PS: Sometimes the domains are set based on the origin of your Ip address ... You may have to route it through another one
Satya Thakur : Well I can just saw is 'Thanks' :D I had been working on this since last year and finally found a solution on this site !! Thanks a million brother :)
Debajyoti Das : I am happy ... that the post helped you .... :) Welcome to Snaphow.com
neo : does your email end in yahoo.co.in? I think it wont work for people whose email ends in yahoo.com
Debajyoti Das : This is a working Trick.... this will work for yahoo.com as well .... Make sure you do the Asia Settings Properly
Luke : This worked great! I've had my Yahoo email account for 5 years and it worked fine! The only problem was that a lot of the links and buttons have been renamed, so finding the option for Yahoo Asia is a little different: My Account >> Account Info >> Set Language, Site, And Time Zone >> Yahoo! Asia
Wilson : Wow. This is great! Thanks for the share. I am helping my mommy switch over from Yahoo!mail which she had used for over 10 years. Her Yahoo! mail has just been so littered with spam and I finally convinced her to switch because I found gmail so much easier to use and good at blocking the random, unsolicited spam. It was disappointing to find that Yahoo! disabled forwarding to discourage email switching but this seems to do the trick. Huzzah!
Debajyoti Das : I am glad this guide helped...
Vishal : Set language, site, and time zone Current setting:Yahoo! Asia, America/Los_Angeles I changed it yet its not wroking.. Please help ASAP..!!
Romal : Dear Dos, hope u r having a gud day, I changed the location to Yahoo asia it worked but the POP & Forwarding OPtion Disappeared after doing this. I Tried very much but i couldnt find any solution. Need urgent help. remember that my location is already YAHOO ASIA. WAITING FOR REPLY
poornima : Hi, i tried as per your steps but i am getting error for server denied like that? ................ give me good solution
guest : There is NO 'POP & Forwarding' link in options EVEN AFTER SWITCHING to Yahoo Asia! What's the deal?
elvie : Hi, thanks for the post, it was very helpful!
sanoelk : Thanks very much! I have spent hours trying to find a way to forward incoming Yahoo emails to my Gmail, and I'm glad this finally ended my ordeal. :)
rich : Thank you so much!!! You are a wonderful human being! :D
Ruki : There is NO ‘POP & Forwarding’ link in options EVEN AFTER SWITCHING to Yahoo Asia! Hi elvie, sanoelk, and rich, is it work for you? How come?
Debajyoti Das : @Ruki: I tried myself its working fine.... plz follow the guide...
char : it's not working for me too..same thing with ruki
mstone : "There is option to delete the mail or not or only forward a copy to your gmail" @Debajyoti: where is this option? i have switched to yahoo asia, and set the forwarding option to my gmail account... thanks for your reply
may : I also can't see the "mail fowarding and POP" option, either. I switched to YAHOO Asia just like the instructions say... Maybe it depends on which location you registered on? I'm USA.... does it work anyone who switched from USA to YAHOO Asia? Thanks
Lucius : It looks like Yahoo disabled this... this will only work on old accounts.. I registered a new Yahoo and the POP/FORWARDING option was gone.. but when I tried an old account, there it was.
jason : I have an old account and it not showing up either? Did yahoo, delete this option now?
Brian : Worked for me. Change location to Asia, then go back to inbox Click the Options drop down in the upper right, then click More Options POP & Forwarding is on option on the left. Note: my account is several years old
Debajyoti Das : Thanks Brian :)
B : Alright, don't fee like seeing if this has already been said, but it's easier to simply switch to Classic Yahoo on your yahoo account (this option shouldn't be TOO hard to find, however it may disappear soon). In Classic, you can navigate to your mail options, and you should see a mail forwarding option (forward yahoo mail to a diff account, whether it's another yahoo or not) under "Forwarding" or some related section.
Adivasi : It worked dude, I'm so relieved phew
Edris : Hi I have 2 accounts. one of them is old(more than 4 years)-@yahoo.com- and other is new(1 year)-@ymail.com-. I live in Iran (in Asia) for old account, I can using POP & Forwarding but in my new account, there is not POP & Forward in Options! I have confused.
saqib : Thanks dude,,, it really works :)
panda : i have been trying. i have everything set to yahoo asia. my yahoo account is an older account. has anyone figured out why the forwarding pop doesn't show up for some accounts, but appears for others???
zara : God working trick...it works but unfortunately, it does not give the option to keep the copy of forwarded email in yahoo. So the forwarding will divert the email to the different address and deletes it from yahoo server. “There is option to delete the mail or not or only forward a copy to your gmail” @Debajyoti: where is this option? Gmail and Hotmail provides this option but not Yahoo. Could you please check if you really have this option in yahooÉ
Sosha : Hi Deb: I spent hours looking for a solution all over the web and I finally find it outside my backdoor! Yo, the ASIAn (Bengal) tiger really roars - and your site rocks! I'm subscribing to your feed... Keep up the good work! :D
hafiz : need help!! i change to yahoo asia. no pop & fowarding on the left.. can somebody help me? ASAP
Zara : @hafiz maybe you have newer email address. It seems that yahoo realized the flaw later LOL .. so It doesn't work with new mail addresses...you need to use an email that you created some year ago or so.
Ritu : Thank you!
Jali : Thank you thank you thank you!!!
mind : Great stuff. A+
Gayathri : Thanks much mate, this saved me a load of headache and brought me back from near despair! Yahoo charging to forward when their services are pants? They haven't fixed their search feature even after a year and response is non existent when you mail them, am moving on without paying them a penny.
rana : My Account >> Account Info >> Set Language, Site, And Time Zone >> Yahoo! Asia i done it but no option show in my mail option POP and forwarding mail kindly tell about my issue by sending mail to my id plz
Nvcuong1411 : i have the same problem with pop & forwarding and I think yahoo has disable it in new account, but the older was ok.
Swathi : Thanks a lot..it works perfectly..!!!
ash : i have that option pop n email forwarding but its not free...how can i move all my incoming mails on yahoo to gmail for free?kindly help
ybo : how to transfer my yahoo mail inbox into usb fort. 11000 messages
Ivan : Great Advice! Many Thx!!! All is working! You need to change just one line - at "Account Settings": "Set language, site, and time zone" - from US or Europe - to something like: "Country:Iran" "Time Zone:+03:30Tehran"
GregT : Well, I found the options after changing to Yahoo Asia.. but there's no submit! I have tried few browsers... any iudeas anyone? I did not change the timezone yet.. so let me try that too...
GregT : Oh! Frigging Hell! It worked!!! ;) I had to click on the left on another option.. that seems to save and submit the screen I am on.. Got a confirmation email in gmail, and it says I am set ;) If I say nothing else it means it worked - and it's November 2011 ;) So they still did not fix it in like 2 years! Cool! Thx for all the people posting this info around. $20 a year is not much.. but come on.. for an address that someone is trying to migrate off of? Not cool!
