palla ramarao : Hi Debjyoti, I have tried even Dragon Naturally Software. Though it is better than Windows default speech recognition software, it is still not complete. The learning curve is big and we have to teach the system again and again.. I can say there is no 100% speech to text software now, without problems.. may be only 90%... anyhow still Dragon Naturally is the best of all as you said. Not So Fast : Vista's Speech Recognition is mostly a lot of hype. Anyone who is trying to get some work done FAST will still have to TYPE IT, because the system is just TOO SLOW and DUMB to understand how to TYPE WHAT YOU ARE SAYING AND DO IT QUICKLY AND ACCURATELY. Further, it can only handle a few words (phrases) at a time, not complete sentences; and it cannot understand how to punctuate, going by your inflection, which means you have to TELL it "PERIOD, OK" or "EXCLAMATION MARK, OK" (etc.) at the end of each statement. Most annoying of all, though, is that it throws on screen half a dozen or more POSSIBLE INTERPRETATIONS of what you just dictated, and you have to tell it which one (if any) is correct!? Sorry, but until the software really CAN type what you are saying at 120 wpm, this is mostly MISLEADING HYPE. Further, DragonNaturallySpeaking makes it difficult if not impossible to locate a FREE TRIAL of FULLY FUNCTIONING DNS software. So nothing really seems to fill the bill for converting speech to text, at this time, which is way into 2012! Surely some company has figured out how to provide this essential capability by now, but who are they and where are they?
