Solve : Keyboard or Mouse Stops Responding, Working

Written by

Keyboard Mouse Stops Responding, Working Recently I was having this problem with my laptop a lot. My mouse stops responding many times after fast booting windows. Generally restarting windows would do it but here are some short cuts which works.

Tip : Monitor CPU Temperature of PC, Laptop

Keyboard, Mouse Stops Responding – Solutions

1) In case of your PC simply unplug your mouse / keyboard and re-plug it. Works with keyboards and with mouse sometimes. For laptop touch pads use the "touch lock" key.

2) If you are using an USB mouse or Keyboard, simply change your port. Once you insert them into a new port windows will try to recognize the new hardware making them work again.

3) Open Task Manager and End All the User Processes including explorer.exe from the Processes Tab. Now re-initiate them using File > New Task. Now follow ’1)’.

4) For Laptops touchpad and keyboard utilities mapped with the function button (like laptop backlight) screws up most of the time during startup. If you don’t use the "useful" functions associated with them, simply uninstall them completely using your control panel. It will fix most things after the next reboot.

6) Its possible that your mouse or keyboard has a hardware problem. Borrow another mouse or keyboard to see if they are working. If they too don’t then its your pc’s problem. Time to Re-Install Windows. (no need of hard disk formatting)

7) You can also turn on the "On Screen Keyboard" (Start > Run > osk) [Details] and MouseKeys (Alt+Shift+NumLock) to activate a virtual GUI based keyboard and control you mouse with arrow keys [Details].

8) Lastly, you can simply reboot … or blame any virus (remove usb autorun virus).
