Users Can No Longer Download Videos From Youtube
If you haven’t noticed it yet, all the youtube video downloading applications have stopped working. Obviously Youtube (Google) doesn’t like the fact that we are downloading all our favorite videos from this site without making them a profit. That’s why they launched their paid initiative, so that we pay for every MB of video we download.

Can’t Download from Youtube Anymore ??
A portion of the Youtube’s Terms of Service says :
You may access User Submissions for your information and personal use solely as intended through the provided functionality of the YouTube Website. You shall not copy or download any User Submission unless you see a “download” or similar link displayed by YouTube on the YouTube Website for that User Submission
I wasn’t aware of that ToS clause listed above. So downloading YouTube videos now become as illegal like Torrent? Hard to believe that YouTube could close all the holes to downloading (there used to be so many ways to download youtube videos).
NOTE : Although most youtube video download tools are not working. Zamar’s Youtube Video Conversion Tool (Link) seem to be working fine, but it takes twice the time (convert+download).
UPDATE : Video Download Helper for Firefox (Link) is working too. This is because it capture the video directly from the webpage. Thanks Amit.
It’s not clear if people will want to pay for downloading user-generated videos from YouTube. While Google continues to try to monetize YouTube, Hulu, with far less traffic than YouTube will be a better alternative for downloading free video content.
This also means other services like the one which lets us create animated Gif images from youtube clippings or convert youtube video to mp3, etc will stop working.

Amit Banerjee : What ? OMG ..... I download lots of videos at a regular basis. After reading this post, I tried Download helper Firefox add-on. It worked! And regarding tird party sites, yes all of them have stopped working!

Arun Babu : It's almost impossible for them to do it. Now itself if you are using Linux System , You don't need any downloader's to download these videos. Just play them in your browser and copy the videos from /tmp . It would be there :D

Janice Thacker : im not trying to download to keep I can no longer get utube to download so i can view it i get boxes and sometimes not available but i cant use utube any longer nothing will download or play. please hep me out. i tried a link that i have watched several times and same thing would not download. sometimes its says its not available sometimes all kind of mishy weird stuff shows up but the song or thing on utube will not load up and play. help

James Ashford : This decision was not primarily motivated by Google's desire to make a profit on videos. Google has lost millions of dollars on lawsuits brought by the recording industry, and keeping-up with every single upload to determine its suitability for downloading had become a cumbersome and expensive task, so it was much simpler to prevent free copying while paying for the rights to make some videos available on a paid basis. Be happy that you got a "free ride" for years, you cheapskates. Now it's time to "cough-up" the money to pay the artists. It's that simple.
Atheistic One : So, James. What you're saying is that Google decided to screw EVERYONE, just because it's arbitrarily easier/beneficial to do it that way?? Also, it sounds as though you not only agree with Google, but wholeheartedly encourage decisions such as theirs. Google's Board Members need you back under their desks immediately, James. Atheistic One’s nemesis : Well whether you like what James is putting or not, its pretty much the reason for this. If a company retails a DVD for £9, yet 20,000 people instead download it off of Youtube, that's a lot of money which has been lost. There is still the 1976 act which allows people to upload content belonging to others, but I think there should be an option which allows youtubers to turn on or off downloading for their videos, because it is only major corporations, who usually slap pricetags on the content which is being downloaded for free off of youtube, that are losing out.
