Laptop Touchpad Too Sensitive to Tap Clicks If your laptop touchpad is too sensitive to your touch, or unintentional touchpad taps then here are some tips to follow so that a shirt sleeve brushing across it (or a lazy finger) won’t send the cursor where it is not wanted. # Configure Touch Sensitivity in Windows

Step 1 : Make Sure the Laptop Touch Pad Driver Application is installed. (the touchpad works even if its not installed). If not install it from the motherboard, software CD/DVD that came along.

Step 2 : After installing it or if already installed locate it from the Windows Start Menu or in the Quick Launch Icon in the System Tray.

Step 3 : It launches the touchpad settings manager. There are many types of mouse settings you can configure. But I will talk only about sensitivity.

Step 4 : Click on the Touch Pad (Tab) and then access Tapping Speed and Touch Sensitivity and edit them according to your preferences. See below. Also enable Tap Off when Typing.

In laymans term, it disables the touchpad automatically when you are typing and enables it back when the typing is stopped.

Disable Touchpad While Typing Text Another similar utility is Touchpad Blocker(link) automatically disables mouse events for a few moments if some key has been pressed or simple saying it disable touchpad while typing and helps the user to type text as fast as possible by locking mouse events during a small period after any key were pressed.
