Hide Desktop Icons Automatically in One Click

If you love pictures and have set your wallpaper to change automatically then you may want to remove and hide desktop icons when not needed. Here are 2 ways to hide desktop icons when left unused.

DeskDuster (Link) – Hide Desktop Icons Automatically

DeskDuster is a program specifically designed to clean desktop from icons, allowing the user to look at the wallpaper images while the PC is inactive. 

The program will load automatically with Windows, monitoring PC inactivity: if inactivity time ( default = 5 min ) will be reached, the program will make all of the icons on the desktop disappear. To see the icons again, simply move the mouse or press a key on the keyboard.

Create a "Hide Desktop Icons" Shortcut

Download the HideDesktopIcons application – Click Here (via).

Create a shortcut of the exe file and place in in your Taskbar or Desktop.

Clicking on it will do the exact of "Hiding Desktop Icons" from View > Show Desktop Icons in Windows Vista, Seven and Arrange Icons By > Show Desktop Icons.

Amit Banerjee : The shortcut method looks good, but I am not a big fan of Desktop icons. After some tie I feel really irritated on seeing a lot of desktop icons staring at me. My desktop is usually clean, without a wallpaper.

Debajyoti Das : @Amit : Ya, I have seen :) I too think desktop icons are useless since all the programs are accessible from start menu... and in vista, seven its really easy since they have that search option.

Hari : I agree too. Its better to have your desktop blank.

punit vara : i think we should save some time by cleaning desktop icons because at the time of staring all icons refreshes.
