Turn Off Google Safe Search – Disable SafeSearch Permanently

You might have noticed by now that by default Google filters out nsfw and explicit content on your search results, especially in Image search. But this may not be needed always. Here is a quick tutorial to turn off Google safe search. After using some of the settings below you can disable Google safesearch permanently on your pc.

How to Turn Off Google Safe Search, Disable Search Result Filtering

# Temporarily Turn Off Google Safe Search

Step 1 : Perform a Google Search. Go to Images.

Step 2 : Click on SafeSearch moderate at the right of the search bar. (see below)

Step 3 : Click on Off to turn of Google safe search temporarily (restarting browser again sets safe search to default value = moderate)

Step 4 : Now you can continue your searching… but now with google safe search disable

# Permanently Disable Google Safe Search for your Account

Step 1 : Go to Google.com

Click Settings on the top right and go to Search Settings (See right)

Step 2 : This will open your search preferences page. Scroll Down till you find SafeSearch Filtering.

Step 3 : Select Do not filter my search results and then Save.

Note :

If you have more than one browser on your computer, you need to do the settings on each one individually.
If your computer has more than one user profile (for example, a family computer), you need to do the same on each appropriate profile browsers.

This will help you stop Google from filtering your search results based on explicit nature of content. This might help in many situations where you need to the actual result page of a search query without any content filtering.

Combine RSS Feeds – Merge Multiple RSS Feeds into One Single Feed

Nowadays most websites support RSS autofeed system where you can share stuff from one site to another. For eg. in facebook you can set up to automatically submit blog posts to notes via your blog’s rss feed.

Other useful use can be if you want to subscribe to only few categories on a wordpress blog, then you can combine multiple wordpress category feeds into a single one and then subscribe to it.

Also if you have multiple accounts for Flickr, Youtube, Blog and Twitter. Then you can combine their feeds together to create your Lifestream feed and share it on facebook etc.

Few days back Google launched a new search features, Realtime. Google aims to provide real-time content from a wide range of sources, mainly status updates from twitter, facebook, buzz and news sources then integrated into their regular search results.

You can specify search results by location, timeline or photo updates. Another cool feature is viewing threaded comments in the updates.

How are Google SiteLinks Generated for Websites and Blogs ?

Today the Youtube Google Webmaster’s channel added a new video where Matt Cutts explained one of the unknown facts, Google Sitelinks. Till now I didn’t have a clear idea on how they were generated. But like always Matt Cuts gives an explanation about Sitelinks.

Here are the Pointers…

Sitelinks can be those links which users search for as a navigational query for eg: "facebook login" , "linkedin jobs"
Sitelinks are algorithmic, added automatically and can be removed via Webmaster tools.

Nice, but he didn’t give a clear overview on how the system of generating sitelinks work.

Gmail’s Automatic "Add to Calendar" Suggestions for Meetings, Events

If you didn’t know Gmail has this cool feature where it lets you add meetings and events to your google calendar based on the discussions in your email. I noticed this today while talking to a friend about meeting each other sometime later.

What I really like about this auto suggest feature is that Gmail understands what’s the final decided date and time very precisely. Moreover I think it will show Google Map link to a known location.

This is really neat, I mean this way one can really not forget about adding the event or a scheduled meetings to the calendar, or even the new Task widget in Gmail.

Also, there is a similar auto alert feature in Gmail where an alert pops up if you forget to attach the attachment, after you’ve mentioned about the attachment in the email.

NDTV’s popular tv program Gadget Guru featured a independence day special episode dedicated to the hands on review of the 35$ Indian Tablet PC. The show completely shattered skeptical claims that such a product is not practical at 35$.

But, Indian HRD minister Kapil Sibal came to the show and reviews the numerous possibilities of this android device as a educational tool for students. He has promised that the gadget will be made available exclusively for Indian students for a price of Rs. 1,500.
