Getting someone’s twitter updates via RSS feed is an useful option if you are not much into twitter and yet you want to follow someone’s daily updates he/she posts on his twitter account.

How to Subscribe Twitter Tweets, Updates from a Person via RSS

Although twitter removed the RSS feed icons on the design but the RSS feed feature still works. Simply enter the twitter username of the account you want to follow via RSS in the form below and click "Get RSS link" button.

Once you get the RSS feed link above, simply copy the link and add it to any desktop feed readers you’re using (Doesn’t work with Google Reader). The next time the user posts any update/tweet you will be able to read it via your RSS reader.

How it Works : Although Twitter removed the RSS feed support on their site but their basic feed system still works. Just access the URL below…

Example URL : http://twitter.com/statuses/user_timeline/snaphow.rss 

Simply change the username ‘snaphow‘ to any other username and the resulting url should pull the latest tweets from that user via RSS (.atom works too).

This may not be of much use if you are active on twitter, but since I don’t use twitter much I find it very useful to follow people this way.

Another useful tip would be to merge multiple RSS feeds into one single feed and then subscribe to it. This way you can create a list of rss feeds of the twitter accounts you want to follow using the technique above and then merge them into a single feed you can follow via your RSS reader.

In case if you want read all tweets on your timeline without logging into twitter directly your reader you can generate a RSS feed with OAuth using an online an online app. called Twitter2RSS (link) which translates all the tweets from the people you’re following into a RSS feed so you can read them from you reader.

Useful Twitter Keyboard Shortcuts

Some keyboard shortcuts only work from some pages, but we’ll mark those where appropriate.

n — post a new status update (works from any page)
r — reply to your selected tweet
t — retweet (only works on Twitter profiles other than your own)
m — direct message (but it doesn’t auto-fill the recipient)
/ – move the cursor to the search box
. — move back to the top of the page, and check feed for updates
g then h – go to your home page (twitter.com)
g then r – see your @ mentions
g then m – see your direct messages
g then p – go to your profile page (twitter.com/username)
g then u – go to a specific user’s profile page (it pops up a dialog box)

That means every time you post new tweets, your Twitter status will automatically be updated in your email, even the ones already sent! You can also use these image else where to display your last tweet. For eg. I have embedded the my code below which shows my last tweet from @snaphow account.

Its an interesting tool to find friends, and interesting twitter users, and it helped me a lot in finding people who I would be actually interested in following.

Just drag the bookmarklet on this page to your bookmarks bar. Go to the direct messages page after logging into your Twitter account and click on the DM Whacker bookmarklet.

You can use the options that appear on the sidebar there to delete DMs from a particular user only, or all DMs. You can delete direct messages from both or either of your Inbox/Sent folders. Deleting a DM from your sent folder will also delete the same from the recipient’s Inbox folder.

DM Whacker does take up a few moments to delete all your direct messages – so wait patiently till as the page reloads several times. When all’s done, you’ll get a confirmation window from DM Whacker. I haven’t tried it yet, but the Tool Seems all right.
