XP Welcome Screen in not Coming during Boot A Reader Emailed me : Everything was working fine for 3-4 days … but today when i booted xp…it did all the loading and showed the mark moving on boot screen but the welcome screen didn’t come… However when i boot in safe mode…it boots properly and shows the welcome screen. But while booting in safe mode….it took 20-30 seconds after showing loading mup.sys….dunno what happens with that…After safe mode i again started in normal mode but again welcome screen not coming. Kindly help me out.

Generally this happens because of some corrupt registry files or some virus attacks. Here, You have to perform a reinstallation of Windows XP, sometimes called a repair installation?

Configure your computer to start from the CD-ROM drive (optional). Then insert your Windows XP Setup CD, and restart your computer.

1. When the Press any key to boot from CD message is displayed on your screen, press a key to start your computer from the Windows XP CD.

2. Press ENTER when you see the message To setup Windows XP now, and then press ENTER displayed on the Welcome to Setup screen.

3. DO NOT choose the option to press R to use the Recovery Console. Follow only Step 2.

4. In the Windows XP Licensing Agreement, press F8 to agree to the license agreement.

5. Make sure that your current installation of Windows XP is selected in the box, and then press R to repair Windows XP.

6. Follow the instructions on the screen to complete Setup.

In this way no data or settings will be lost but will you be have a brand new XP installation. Now the Problem will be solved.
